“This project was one that is still very dear to my heart although it never got off of the drawing board. “

    Elevation Looking To Port

“For as long as I have been sailing, I have been in love with this Rhodes 77 design. A few were built in the 40’s and 50’s. My first love was Sea Diamond, a sister ship who’s home port was Newport Beach. I never had the privilege of sailing aboard her, it seemed that she was always at anchor, but I sailed past her magnificence hundreds of times over the years on my way in and out of the Newport Jetty. Many fantasies and much dreamtime was invested in what she must be like inside…what she could be like inside!”

    Overall View

“I felt like an unspoken prayer had been answered when I got a call from Legendary Yachts inviting me to design the interior of Alert II, a replica of this Rhodes design for a prospective client in San Diego. But, as happens quite often in this business of yacht design, the client, for personal reasons, chose not to build the yacht after all. The following designs were very preliminary but do give a hint of what might have been…and may still be”.
